About the award & rules
The Vice-rector’s Award for Excellence in Doctoral Studies motivates PhD candidates to successfully complete the studies in the shortest possible time and to work on the research and doctoral thesis with a significant contribution and potential for further use.
The faculties nominate graduates who successfully defended their doctoral thesis in the academic year 2024/2025 in the period from 1 July 2024 to 31 July 2025. The awardees will obtain certificates and financial rewards in the autumn semester 2025. The winners will be selected by the MU Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies.
MU requirements
- successful completion of studies within the standard duration increased by the maximum of one year
- significance and contribution of the doctoral research, its innovative features and impact on the advancement of the field of science or its social, professional and practical application will be considered.
Further nomination criteria are defined by the relevant faculty.
How to nominate
Nominations are submitted through a form of RMU Research Office. The following will be needed to place a nomination:
- graduate´s identification including the length of their studies,
- justification of the nomination, with an emphasis on explaining the scientific contribution and societal impact of the dissertation project,
- list of the graduate´s peer-reviewed publications, optionally a list of other outputs,
- supervisor’s identification,
- optional: identification and asset of a consultant,
- electronic signature of the dean or a relevant vice-dean.
