PhD candidate Supervisor Doctoral Board
Where to go?
Second or another supervisor
Second or another supervisor provides expert guidance of the PhD candidate usually at another institution (typically partner universities and research institutes as part of cotutelle or joint co-supervision programmes etc.)
Such supervisors closely cooperate with the MU supervisor. They also have some administrative responsibilities connected with the PhD candidate’s progress, usually at a training/cooperating unit outside MU.
Consultant or specialist
Other experts in the given field of science, at MU referred to as consultants (specialists) may be involved in the PhD candidate’s research work. These are experts from MU as well as other Czech or international institutions. Some consultants (specialists) work outside of academia and contribute to connecting the university with the applied sector (industry, trade, public administration, power industry, services, health care etc.).
A consultant (specialist) closely works with the PhD candidate’s supervisor while not having administrative responsibilities or powers of a supervisor related to the studies at MU. Consultants are also useful in Collaborative PhD partnerships, where they participate in the professional guidance of PhD candidates at partner institutions in the applied sector.
